Service Outreach

The St. Ann School community takes great pride in its tradition of service to others. Students from Age 3 through 8th Grade gain a real understanding of the relationship between service and all other aspects of learning and living.

Our School Community supports many service projects. While there are many, a few are highlighted below.

The First Grade class begins the fall season with a coat drive with donations going to the  Clothing Bank of Delaware.  The 8th grade sponsors a school wide competition named Pencil Wars, they collect pencils, erasers and sharpeners to benefit needy schools. The 5th grade sponsored fundraiser, Candygrams, raised $705.00 for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.  Our students also rocked their socks on World Down Syndrome Day and raised $275.00 for the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware. Middle school boys and girls also participated in Project Linus, making blankets and donating them to local charities. Our school also holds several casual days a year and the funds raised to "dress down" support the Missions

St. Ann's Student Council sponsors activities such as food drives to benefit the Kevin Sullivan Food Closet based at Christ Our King Parish, and each year the Council raises money through donations and fundraising activites to support families through the Adopt-A-Family program and Adopt-A-Mom

In the spring, St. Ann's Fifth Grade holds a Spring Festival and invites the community to help raise funds to support the children of San Marcos, Guatemala. Below is a message from Fr. John Hynes after his recent visit to the Santa Anna School in Guatemala:

"Greetings from San Jose El Rodeo, with Fr. Silverio and all our group. We have just visited Santa Anna School, all were very grateful for the help from St. Ann’s. The new school is built and running.  They tell us that the cement and structural iron were paid for in part by the St. Ann’s donations, very grateful.  Yesterday in San Marcos we met with the commision and Bishop Trinidad. He is gracious, down to earth, and seems to consider the relationship with us very important.  Will make some proposals before we leave. Tomorrow to La Blanca and Cristo Salvador."
--Fr. John Hynes.

Additionally, our school children may be seen visting our elderly parishioners several times a year, singing, performing and bringing joy to our most cherished members of St. Ann's community.

St. Ann School's mission is to educate each student in an environment of faith, community and academic excellence.  For over a century, St. Ann has been committed to the development of the whole person, empowering them with the education and values that enable success in the tradition of the Catholic Church.
