Home & School Association

Mission for Home & School

The Home and School Association works to foster a strong relationship between the school administration and the families at St Ann’s School. We want to promote open communication, family involvement and help provide the resources needed for the overall well-being of our children. The Home and School Association works to build a sense of community in the school through social activities and volunteer opportunities which enhance the Catholic school experience of both the students and their families.

In keeping with our mission, H&S gives back to our teachers, students and school families. The funds raised through our various fundraisers help support and enhance academic programs activities.

    • Provide each teacher an annual allotment to spend as they wish to buy things for their students and classroom.

    • Fund special electives for Middle School students.

    • Host a back to school luncheon for our teachers the week before classes are back in session each Fall.

    • Purchase balloons to greet our students on the first day back to school.

    • Purchase recess toys – balls, jump ropes, chalk, jump ropes – for all classes

    • Host the parent/teacher social.

    • Purchase pumpkins for our teachers to decorate with their classes in October.

    • Sponsor the Middle School Hayride each Fall.

    • Host the Lower School Halloween Party each October.

    • Organize Grandparent’s Day in November.

    • Purchase decorations displayed throughout the school during the  Christmas season.

    • Host the Teacher Appreciation luncheon during Catholic Schools Week.

    • Host the Year End Party for our students during the last week of school. The party includes things like games and bounce houses and hamburgers and hot dogs and popcorn and water ice and tons of fun.

Home and School is also responsible for helping organize various functions that help our school run smoothly.

    • Lunch duty volunteers – Every day parent volunteers help in the Social Hall during lunch periods. The volunteers just help make sure the lunch room runs smoothly and helps clean the tables between lunch periods. You don’t have to be there the whole time – any amount of time you can spare is appreciated. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact Brook Patterson Rowe, bepers@gmail.com. In order to volunteer in the lunch room or for any other school events, you must have a Volunteer Covenant and current background check on file with the school/diocese office. Contact Pat Walker, pwalker@stannwilmington.com for information on how to obtain a background check.

    • Organizing volunteers to help out with lunch periods in the classrooms on days where the Social Hall is unusable (days like the Christmas Concert, the Year End Party, etc.).

    • Organize volunteers to help in the Social Hall during Grandparents Day.
